Eligibility for Bachelor of Arts

  1. A candidate must have passed +2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other Board recognised by Panjab University with English as one of the subjects.
  2. A candidate who has passed +2 examination without English from any recognised Board / Body / Council/ University is also eligible to join B.A. / B.Sc Part-I, if he/she fulfills other requirements such as minimum percentage of marks.
  3. A candidate who has been placed under compartment in the +2 examination conducted by a Board /Body / Council / University in India in one subject only obtaining at least 20% marks in the subject of compartment (Theory and Practical taken together) shall also be eligible to seek admission to 1 year of B.A.
    (General Course) provided he/ she has obtained 33% marks in the aggregate of all subjects including the marks obtained by him/her in the subject of compartment. (Theory and Practical taken together)
  4. Regarding Open School +2 Pass candidates only: Students who have passed +2 exam from a recognised Open School are eligible for admission to the B.A. / B.Sc. (Medical, Non-Medical, Computer Science and Agriculture) / B.Com / B.C.A. 1 year course, only if their result is shown as PASS in their certificates issued by the said Open Schools and they have obtained the requisite percentage of marks prescribed under the University Regulations for admission to the concerned course. In case their result has not been shown as PASS in the relevant column of the said certificate, they being ineligible be not admitted.

Two compulsory subjects and three elective subjects

(a) Compulsory Subjects

  1. Punjabi (124 PBC) : Two Papers or History and Culture of Punjab (085 HCP)
  2. English (066 ENG) :
  3. Environmental Education (068 ENV) Compulsory qualifying paper of 100 marks to be qualified in B.A.-I / B.A.-II / BA.-III.

(b) Elective Subjects

  1. Hindi / Punjabi / English
  2. History / Mathematics / Home Science / Agriculture.
  3. Economics / Fine Arts / Physical Education / Music (Vocal) / Sanskrit
  4. Political Science / Sociology / Computer Sc. / Music (Instrumental)

Note :
1) Combination of Home Science with Computer Science is not allowed.
2) Combination of agriculture with Physical Education /Sanskrit is not allowed.

Eligibility for Bachelor of  Science

(i) A candidate must have passed +2 examination (Medical/Non-Medical) with English as one of subjects from Punjab School Education Board or any other Board recognised by Panjab University.

(ii) A candidate who has passed +2 examination (Medical/Non-Medical) without English from any recognized Board/Body/Council/ University is also eligible to join B.Sc. Part-I (Medical/Non-Medical), if he / she fulfils other requirements such as minimum percentage of marks.

(iii) A candidate who has been placed under compartment in the +2 examination conducted by a at least 20% marks in the subject of compartment (Theory and Practical taken together) shall also be eligible to seek admission to 1st year of B.Sc. (General Course) provided he/she has obtained 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects including the marks obtained by him/her in the subject of compartment. (Theory and Practical taken together).

(ii) Elective Subjects :

Medical Group : Chemistry (037 CHE), Botany (022 BOT), Zoology (158 ZOO).
Non-Medical Group : Physics (131 PHY), Chemistry (037 CHE), Mathematics (110 Mat), Computer Science and Application (Vocational).
Computer Applications Group : Physics (131 PHY), Mathematics (110 MAT), Computer Application.

(iii) Qualifying Subjects : Environmental Education (068 ENV), Introduction to Computer Science, Module-I.

Commerce & Management Group

B.Com. Part I

Eligibility :

(A) Admission to the first year of B.Com. (General) degree course shall be open to a person who has passed one of the following examinations conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University :

(a) +2 Examination or B.Com. Part I (Old Scheme) of Panjab University with three of the following subjects and at least 45% marks in aggregate :
(i) Commerce/Theory of Commerce / Foundation Course in Commerce.
(ii) Accounting/Book Keeping and Accountancy.
(iii) Economics.
(iv) Business Organisation / Business Management / Theory and Practice of Management.
(v) Insurance / General Insurance / Life Insurance
(vi) Banking and Trade
(vii) Commercial Geography
(viii) Office Management and Secretarial Practice / Office Organisation and Management.
(ix) Mercantile Law / Company Law
(x) Auditing
(xi) Type-writing and Stenography/Computers

b) +2 Examination/ B.A.-I (Old Scheme) of Panjab University with at least two of the subjects mentioned in (a) securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.
(B) Subject to the reservations made by the University, admission to B.Com.-I shall be made strictly on merit. The merit of the candidate shall be computed as :
(i) Percentage of marks in the qualifying examination
(ii) Add score of 4 for each of the subjects passed from the subjects referred in A (a).

C) The last date for submitting Students’ Registration Return has been fixed and thereafter, a late fee of Rs. 500/- per student may be charged from students who submit their documents by 15th November. From 16th November till 15th December, a late fee of Rs. 1000/- per student will be charged. After this date, no document will be accepted by the University Office under any circumstances whatsoever.

D) The candidate coming from other Boards/Universities should bring along Migration Certificate at the time of seeking admission.

B.C.A. I

Eligibility : (i) For admission to B.C.A.-I, a candidate having passed 10+2 in any discipline even without having passed Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects with at least 50% marks is eligible. However, the candidate must have passed Mathematics up to 10th standard.

(ii) Any other examination recognized by the Syndicate as equivalent to (i).

Note :  1. A candidate who has been placed under Compartment in +2 Examination is not eligible for seeking admission to this course.

  1. Admission will be made strictly in order of merit and list of selected candidates will be displayed on the notice board.

B.Sc. Agriculture – 4 Year Course

Eligibility :

A candidate must have clearly passed +2 examination from a Board recognized by Panjab University With Medical, Non-Medical or Agriculture. Candidate With Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Computers will have to clear Botany and Zoology in first and second semester respectively. Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology / Agriculture will have to clear Mathematics-I and Mathematics-II in first and second Semester respectively. Candidates having both the options i.e. Mathematics and Biology at Xll level will have to appear in Botany and Zoology if he/she has been admitted on Non-Medical seat and will have to appear in Mathematics-I and II if he/she has been admitted on Medical seat.
