Career Guidance is an integral part of our education system. Career Guidance and Counselling Cell at D.A.V. College, Hoshiarpur organizes informative career-oriented sessions, panel discussions, and orientation programs for students. Choosing the right career is one of the most important decisions in a student life. Detailed inputs are provided to the students focusing career choices aligned to their passions/interests helping them to fulfil their career goals.

A Seven-day Orientation Program for students is being organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with Career Guidance & Counselling Cell of the college.

A Seven-day Orientation Program for students is being organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with Career Guidance & Counselling Cell of the college. Students from all streams are enthusiastically attending the course. At the outset, Officiating Principal Mr. R. K. Khanna averred that such a course is being organised for the first time in the institution, adding that the students would be apprised of numerous career openings after Graduation. Mr. Hitesh Kumar, Convenor, Career Guidance and Counselling Cell exhorted the students to benefit from this opportunity.
In the first session, Mr. Paramvir Jagat delved at length upon -Opportunities After Graduation, talking about various career options practically touching upon every possible field. Dr. Rajni Bala coordinated the program in an impressive manner.

Day# 2 of Seven- day Orientation Program for students, being organised under the aegis of IQAC and Career Guidance & Counselling Cell was marked by an interactive session on Stress Management by Ms. Navita Gehlawat, Counsellor & Life Coach. She dwelt upon the need to live in the present and keep oneself gainfully engaged so as not to indulge in overthinking. Further, Ms. Navita advised the students to choose a profession keeping in mind their choices and passions so that they are able to excel in it. Finally she talked about the need to let go Peer – pressure, saying that everyone has unique abilities and qualities. The session evoked an enthusiastic response from the students, who participated actively in the session. Mr. R. K. Khanna, Officiating Principal advised the students to focus on their respective area of interest so as to enable them to manage stress in a better manner.

On Day # 3 of Seven- day Orientation Program being organised by IQAC and Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, a lecture on Personality Development was delivered by Dr. Anu Saini. In her presentation, Dr. Anu touched upon various aspects of Personality- stressing that it is not just the outward or physical appearance, rather the qualities of a person, which constitute Personality. The role of Positive Thinking, Empathy, Kindness and Team- spirit were stressed upon. Dr. Anu talked about the importance of being original and not imitating others. Finally, the role of humour and introspection in the development of Personality should not be undermined. Earlier, Mr. Hitesh Kumar, Convenor, Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, stressed the need of Personality Development for a successful and fulfilling life and career, besides on inter-personal relations. Mr. R.K. Khanna congratulated the organisers for this initiative.

Day # 4 of Seven- day Orientation Program being organised by IQAC and Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, constituted a session on Effective Communication Skills- an Overview by Mrs. Tracy Kohli. In her presentation, the Resource Person laid emphasis on various aspects of Communication saying that it is a two- way process. Several nuances of Communication- Verbal, Non- Verbal, Formal- Informal, Written-Spoken, Handling Social Media, Etiquette for Mobile Phones, right use of punctuation and pauses, dos and don’ts of Effective Communication were laid stressed upon. Further, the importance of what is said and how it is said, that is the tone of speech were discussed. In her presentation, Mrs. Tracy Kohli spoke of the need to avoid generalisations and repetition. Dr. Rajni Bala provided the necessary technical support for the session. Officiating Principal Mr. R.K. Khanna also highlighted the importance of Effective Communication Skills and encouraged the participants to keep in mind the nuances of Communication for a brighter future.

Day # 5 of Seven- day Orientation Program being organised by IQAC and Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, constituted a session on ‘Career Options in Armed Forces after Graduation’ by Lt. Aman Bahri. In his presentation, he laid emphasis on the need to discipline oneself, make constant efforts and consistent practice in order to pursue the dream of joining Armed Forces. Various entry schemes for NDA, IMA & SSC were discussed at length. Exemption from written exam for ‘C ‘ certificate holders, pattern of Qualifying exams, options available before students of various streams were discussed. Officiating Principal Mr. Rajneesh Khanna praised Lt. Aman Bahri for the comprehensive presentation and urged the students to keep in mind this option for a bright future and for participation in Nation Building.

Day # 6, Seven- day Online Orientation Program being organised by IQAC and Career Guidance and Counselling Cell. Dr. Sonu Sharma, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, addressed a session on ‘Environment Awareness and Sustainability’ In her presentation, the resource person stressed the need to protect environment so as to make life better for human race. By causing damage to the environment, human beings are causing grave damage to the quality of life. Pollution resulting from the excessive use of Plastic was discussed in detail. By supporting her argument with extensive data, she drew attention to the damage caused by plastic, both globally and nationally. Steps taken by Governments world over, were discussed. In this interactive session, Dr. Sonu talked about alternative ways to dispose of plastic waste. She encouraged students to fill the five Rs- Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover. Dr. Neeru Mehta recited a poem – ‘ Dharti ka Bukhar’ on this theme. Officiating Principal Mr. Rajneesh Khanna praised Dr. Sonu Sharma for this extremely relevant presentation and urged the students to keep in mind our duty towards preserving environment

Day # 7 , Seven- day Online Orientation Program being organised by IQAC and Career Guidance and Counselling Cell. Mr. Jaswinder Singh Assistant Professor in Computer Science delivered a talk on ‘ ICT in Post- Covid era ’ In his presentation, the resource person stressed the need to use ICT judiciously and explained in detail the various tools of ICT along with their uses in diverse fields. In the present times, the importance of ICT cannot be undermined, he added, by supporting his argument with extensive data. Mr. Hitesh Kumar, Convenor, Career Guidance and Counselling Cell assured the students that such programs would be a regular feature and informed them that all teachers would be accessible for them, whenever they needed their guidance. Officiating Principal Mr. Rajneesh Khanna was all praise for IQAC and Career Guidance and Counselling Cell for this extremely useful program. In their message, President Dr. Anoop Kumar and Secretary, Retd. Principal Sh. D. L. Anand extended their best wishes to the students and the organisers. They averred that learning is a continuous process and in order to be successful, one must consistently update their knowledge
