Dr. Ram Swarup Gupta Library

The Library, being the heart of the college, supports the college in its mission, to advance learning and knowledge by linking theory and practice in all disciplines, and to prepare students for lifelong learning, leadership and careers in a changing multicultural world. The Dr.RSGL has been set up on a modernized platform to cater to the information needs of the students and staff members of the college. The Library functions as the primary information resource center and repository of printed and electronic resources for teaching and research activities at the institute. Apart from textbooks and recommended reading materials prescribed for each course offered at the institute, the library houses a growing collection of multi-volume reference works, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, and so on. The library facilitates access to electronic journals through its participation in consortia, such as N-LIST & DELNET databases. At present, users can consult books (available on shelves) and thousands of electronic books and journals. Online access is also provided through N-LIST, DELNET databases. The library operations are automated using CAMPUS ANALYZER software. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) enables users to search documents in possession of the library. A separate Digital section is provided in the library to browse e-books, e-contents and e-journals. These steps will greatly enhance the library’s efficiency in making the resources available to the academic community at large and also enable the institute to participate in various inter-library initiatives at national and international levels.

Our Library is providing extensive research support services such as usage of reference management tools, copyright and plagiarism support etc. The library includes two reading areas having the seating capacity for 120 students at a time. The ground floor is equipped with a circulation counter, a reference section, digital corner, periodical section and a large reading hall. Additionally, the first floor is dedicated to book stacks for Post Graduate classes, a silent reading area for faculty research .

Mission

In keeping with the vision and mission of the Institution, the library has been established to promote intellectual growth and creativity by developing collections, facilitating access to information resources, teaching the effective use of information resources and offering research assistance.

The Library will be recognized as an accessible and exceptional center of research, learning, and creativity focused on student success. We develop, organize, provide access to and preserve materials to meet the needs of present and future generations of students and scholars. We explore and implement innovative technologies and services to deliver information and scholarly resources conveniently to users anytime/anyplace. We also provide well-equipped and functional physical spaces where students can pursue independent learning and discovery outside the classroom.

GENERAL RULES


 1 . Every member of the library must be prepared to identify himself/herself when requested to do so.
 2 . Users assume the obligation of keeping the library materials in good condition. Materials damaged, defected or lost must be replaced, otherwise the cost will be realized from the borrower.
 3 . A misplaced book is temporarily lost. To avoid misplacement; books taken from the open shelves should be left on or  handed over to the library attendant near the table.
 4 . Smoking and eating is not allowed inside the library.
 5 . Silence must be observed in the Library.
 6 . Books and Magazines must be returned before the due date.
 7 . Keep your cell phone in silence or off mode inside the library.
 8 . It is advisable to use library resources i.e. books, computers & magazines carefully.
 9 . Your cooperation with library staff is highly appreciated.
10.  Keep your bags/belongings at property counter at the entrance.
11. Bring your ID Card to enter/exit the Library and also produce the same to the library Staff as and when asked for.
12. Do not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the library.
13. The library staff at the library gate will check all personal belongings including Library books issued to a member.
14. The reader should check the books before borrowing to ensure that these are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book, otherwise he/she shall be held responsible for the damage, discovered at the time of returning the books.
15. Admission may be refused to anyone who violates the Library Rules and Regulations.
