To mark Programmers’ Day(13 Sept,2025), Post Graduate Department of Computer Science and Applications at DAV College Hoshiarpur organized a workshop on “The Future of Technology,” featuring experts from Techcadd Software Solutions and Industrial Training Network. Held under the supervision of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, the workshop explored cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Natural Language Processing.A major highlight was the North India debut of “Chichi,” a robotic dog developed by Unitree, USA. With AI-powered mobility and interactive capabilities, Chichi demonstrated real-world applications of neural networks and deep learning, sparking student interest in emerging technologies.During the concluding session, Prof. Sushil Kumar, Head of the Department of Computer Science, encouraged students to engage with future technologies with curiosity and responsibility. The event was appreciated and supported by Dr. Anoop Kumar, President of the College Managing Committee, and Shri R. M. Bhalla, Secretary..




A planning meeting was convened at DAV College Hoshiarpur to discuss the upcoming Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Hoshiarpur Zone- 5. The session focused on finalizing the festival dates, reviewing rules and regulations, and strategizing for the smooth execution of the event. The meeting was chaired by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, convener of the festival, who announced that students from 28 colleges will participate in this prestigious celebration, competing in 65 cultural and heritage events. The sequence of competitions was also finalized during the meeting.Earlier, Dr. Kulwant Singh, Organizing Secretary of the host college, extended a warm welcome to all contingent in-charges and briefed them on the preparations. The festival dates were officially confirmed as 14th to 17th October. The presence of dignitaries including Principal Parvinder Singh and Principal Dr. Rajiv Sharma added significance to the planning session. College Management President Dr. Anoop Kumar and Secretary Sh. R.M. Bhalla conveyed their best wishes to the Principal and staff for the event.




The Department of Physical Education at DAV College Hoshiarpur celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm, following the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education, under the leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar. The event began with Associate Professor Gurvinder Kaur and Assistant Professor Dr. Rahul Kalia's tribute to the legendary hockey Magician Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary. They shared detailed insights into his remarkable achievements and introduced students to the awards in the field of sports. Keeping in mind the theme of National Sports Day 2025-“Sports for Promoting a Peaceful and Inclusive Society” --students Sandeep Kumar (B.A. First Year), Nilakshi (BA. Second Year), and Alisha (BA. Third Year) expressed their views. They emphasized that sports fields provide an ideal environment where individuals learn coordination, cooperation, and how to achieve success as a unified team.




DAV College Hoshiarpur hosted its cultural event Virasat-e-Punjab on 31 Aug,2025, celebrating the vibrant heritage of Punjab through dance, music, and artistic expression. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Javeera Anoop Minhas, Retired Prof., Govt. College Hoshiarpur, along with Principal Prof.(Dr.) Vinay Kumar, who emphasized the importance of cultural engagement in education. The event featured a range of group, solo, and duet dance performances, blending traditional and contemporary styles. Addressing the students, Dr. Jasveera Anoop Minhas emphasized the importance of staying connected to one’s heritage so that Punjab’s rich culture can be passed on to future generations. ECA incharge and event coordinator Associate Prof. Dr. Kulwant Rana said that the event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, who performed traditional dances like Giddha and showcased folk songs, immersing the atmosphere in vibrant cultural hues. All winners were honored by Dr. Jasveera Anoop Minhas, Principal Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Rupakshi Bagga (Incharge DAV collegiate Senior Secondary School) and Dr. Kulwant Rana.President Dr. Anoop Kumar and Secretary Shri R.M. On the occasion of National Small-Scale Industry Day, an essay writing competition was organized on 29 Aug,2025by the Planning Forum, Department of Economics, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council, DAV College Hoshiarpur. A total of 25 students actively participated in the competition. Essays were evaluated by Associate Prof. Kapil Chopra and Assistant Prof. Dr. Sapna Sharma. In his address, Principal Prof. Dr. Vinay Kumar remarked that since ancient times, fine-quality goods have been produced in India’s small and cottage industries. Dr. Varsha Mahindra, Head of the Department of Economics and event convenor, discussed the role of small-scale industries as the backbone of a nation’s progress and development.




Under the guidance of the Director of Youth Services, Hoshiarpur, and the able leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, the N.S.S. Unit of the College organized a series of activities to mark National Sports Day on 29 Aug,2025. Programme Officers Associate Prof. Anil Kumar and Assistant Prof. Dr. Inderjit Singh led the initiative, with volunteers actively participating in various athletic events. To honour the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, students paid tribute to him through football and hockey matches. In his address, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar referred to Major Dhyan Chand as the “Magician of Hockey” and paid heartfelt tribute on his birth anniversary. He emphasized that the purpose of celebrating National Sports Day is to acquaint the younger generation with the glorious history of Indian athletes and to inspire them to participate in sports actively—promoting health, discipline, and national pride.

Post Graduate Punjabi Department of with the cooperation of Punjabi Sahit Sabha, . Nukkar play 'Flan de De Rang Kale' written by renowned colorist Chamkaur Singh and produced in the direction of Baljit Moga was performed in the college auditorium under the leadership of Vinay Kumar on 23 Aug,2025. The drama's topic is the problem of drug and the need of mobile phones in Punjab. Based on usage. Powerful acting of artists impressed all the audience. College Principal Dr. at the end of the play. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Kulwant Rana and the Punjabi Department honored the entire team of the drama. Stage Operation Pro. Amarjit Singh did Bakhubi | College Managing Committee President Dr. Anoop kumar and secretary Shri R. M. Bhalla praised the initiative of the Punjabi department and said that there is a need for time to play on such moving social problems to save students from such problems.




DAV College Student Wins Top Honours Devianshi, B.A. 3rd Semester student of DAV College, Hoshiarpur, secured First Position in the Inter-College Online Article Writing Competition organized by Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana. The competition was held on the theme “Viksit Bharat @2047.” Her entry was recognized for its excellence, earning her a cash prize in appreciation of her achievement. Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, Principal of DAV College along with Dr. Dr. Kulwant Singh, incharge ECA congratulated Devianshi on her success and encouraged her to participate in similar events. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Services, Government of India, College Principal P. ਡਾ. Under the leadership of Vinay Kumar, the youth welfare wing of the college, D. ਏ. ਵੀ. Rangoli competitions were held on the first day in the college Hoshiarpur. In which students from different departments of the college participated. In this competition, the team of Abhijeet Kaur and Manjot Kaur from Commerce Department stood first, Aradhana and Taniya from Commerce Department stood second and similarly Khushi and Karitka from Computer Department stood third. Judgement of competitions Dr. Neeru Mehta and Madam Priya did. On the second day, college students made posters and made the youth aware of the concept of developed India. The aim of these activities was to connect the students with the seminar on Developed India, on which day Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will address the youth of the country on the occasion of International Youth Day | On the occasion Dr. Mukhtar Singh, Dr. Geetu Agnihotri and Dr. Digvijay Singh was present.




College Toppers of PGDCA 2nd Semester 2025. Priya Bala secured the first position in the college in PGDCA 2nd Semester results declared by Panjab University Chandigarh, scoring 84% marks. Inter- Departmental Activity ,The Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology jointly organized an inter-departmental activity titled “Brain Wave–Green Board Battle” on August 14, 2025. The event focused on various science-based themes, encouraging participants to explore real-world applications of core scientific concepts while fostering curiosity and creativity. A total of eight teams comprising 32 students participated in the competition. Each team was allotted a theme related to different branches of science. The competition was evaluated by Ms. Kamaljit Kaur, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry; Mr. Manjeel Kumar, Registrar and Head, Department of Mathematics; and Mr. Vishal Kumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physics.In a spirited display of talent and innovative thinking, the first prize was awarded to Loveleen Lamba, Gagandeep, Aarti, Jagvir Singh, and Navleen of B.Sc. I Year for their outstanding presentation on the theme “Biology: Unlocking Nature’s Potential.” The second prize was secured by Ishita, Kavita Badhan, Sakshi, Abhilasha, and Amisha of B.Sc. II Year, who presented on the theme “Physics: Black Hole, Dark Matter and Dark Energy.” The third prize went to Rapinder Kaur, Jasleen Kaur, Meenakshi, Samiksha, and Shveta of B.Sc. II Year for their creativity on the theme “Mathematics: Every Problem Has a Solution.”

DAV College, Hoshiarpur, celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm under the leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Senior Advocate D. M. Sharma, a respected member of the DAV College Managing Committee, hoisted the National Flag and inspired students with his patriotic message. The celebrations featured a vibrant series of cultural performances by students. Divyanshi and Yadunandan Sharma shared thought-provoking reflections on themes such as "Freedom is Still Incomplete" and "The Meaning of Independence". Meanwhile, Akash Takhi, Prabhjot, Ravinder Kaur, Tanveer, Sakshi, Bharti, Vandana, Amrit, Muskan, Bhupinder, Gurpreet, Jasveer, Monika, and Kajal filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervor through their poems and musical presentations. The campus resounded with chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram". The stage proceedings were conducted by Dr. Ruby Jain, whose eloquent and spirited words evoked a strong sense of national pride. On the occasion of National Library Day, students of DAV College, Hoshiarpur participated in a group discussion on the topic “Internet and AI: The Double-Edged Sword.” The discussion was held under the supervision of College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, where participants explored both the positive and negative impacts of artificial intelligence. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach and independent thinking while navigating the realm of AI. In his address, College Librarian Mr. Hitesh Kumar encouraged students to make healthy and meaningful use of the library. The event was graced by the presence of College Registrar Mr. Manjeel Kumar, Dr. Ruby Jain, Dr. Digvijay Singh, and Madam Renu Bhardwaj.




According to the guidelines of Youth Services Department of Punjab Government. Youth Welfare Club of College Hoshiarpur and N.S.S. Unit by college principal Dr. International Youth Day was celebrated under the leadership of Vinay Kumar on 12 Aug,2025. The theme for this year's Youth Day was 'The role of youth in sustainable development goals'. Its inner students shared their views. Dr on the occasion Addressing Mukhtar Singh said that youth play an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond. They are not only beneficiaries of development, but also innovators, decision makers and active agents of change in their communities. Young people can drive local actions that advance the SDGs. Dr on the occasion Inderjit Singh said young people can also take part in environmental conservation efforts on climate change, such as clean water initiatives and sanitation education. Dr on the occasion Geetu Agnihotri said that young women can lead efforts to close the gender gap in leadership, education and employment. Mantra Chanting Workshop at DAV College HoshiarpurIn observance of Sanskrit Week, DAV College Hoshiarpur’s Kalidas Manch, Department of Sanskrit, in collaboration with the Stress Management Committee, organized a Mantra Chanting Workshop for students. The event was supported by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, inaugurated the workshop and encouraged students to explore their cultural heritage and understand the deeper significance of spiritual practices.Assistant Professor Dr. Rahul Kalia, Department of Physical Education, described mantra chanting as a powerful method for achieving spiritual and emotional balance. Dr. Ruby Jain, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit, stressed the need for consistent practice to master the art of chanting and explained how spiritual wellness is closely tied to mantra recitation.

DAV College, Hoshiarpur hosted the Inter-School ‘DAV Centennial Quiz Competition’ under the patronage of College Managing Committee President Dr. Anoop Kumar and Secretary Sh. R.M. Bhalla. The competition commenced with a written quiz round, from which four schools qualified for the oral round. Dr. Dinesh Arora, a distinguished scholar of Political Science from DAV College, Jalandhar, conducted the quiz, posing questions from diverse domains including History, Science, Geography, Sports, Cinema, and the Indian Constitution. After a spirited contest, the first place was bagged by DAV Collegiate Senior Secondary School, Hoshiarpur. Chakk Memorial Girls Senior Secondary School, Mukerian, secured the second prize and Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary Model School, Hoshiarpur, claimed the third place. DAV College, Hoshiarpur, under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, a two-day workshop titled 'Career in Securities Market and Money Management' was organised by the Postgraduate Department of Commerce. The event was held in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), an initiative of SEBI. Ms. Anita Saini, an SEBI-certified Securities Market Trainer (SMARTs), served as the resource person for the workshop. On the first day of the workshop, she highlighted the importance of financial literacy as a crucial life skill, while the second day focused on investment strategies in the secondary markets.

Appinder Kaur and Sukhpreet Kaur Secure First Position in the District DAV College, Hoshiarpur delivered an outstanding performance in the recently declared results of the Bachelor of Computer Applications 4th Semester, by Panjab University,Chandigarh. The college Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar shared that in the examination held in May 2025, Appinder Kaur and Sukhpreet Kaur brought pride to the institution by securing 341 out of 375 (90.93%)marks, jointly achieving the first position in the district. In the same class, Sukhwinder Kaur secured second position in the college with 89.33% marks, while Simranjit Kaur stood third with 88.80% marks. Dr. Anoop Kumar, President of the Managing Committee, along with Secretary Sh. R.M. D.A.V. College Hoshiarpur Commemorates Kargil Heroes The NCC Unit of DAV College, Hoshiarpur commemorated Kargil Vijay Divas under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar. A large number of NCC cadets from the college and students from various schools participated in the event, led by the college NCC officer, Lieutenant Dr. Aman Bahri.To pay tribute to the heroes of Kargil, Lieutenant Abhinav Singh from 11 Corps (Vajra Corps), 53 Med Regiment, along with his team, from Jalandhar Cantt., joined the ceremony. Following the flag- hoisting ritual, Lt. Abhinav shed light on the bravery of the Kargil heroes, offered homage, and shared valuable life lessons from the Kargil War. Seminar at DAV Hoshiarpur on Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH Act, India) The Women Development Cell and Legal Literacy Cell of D.A.V. College, Hoshiarpur, under the able guidance of Principal Professor (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, organized a seminar in the college titled “Awareness Programme to Sensitize Employees about the Provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.” The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students regarding the legal framework, procedural mechanisms, and the importance of fostering a gender- sensitive work environment. Advocate Shweta Sharma, the Resource Person for the event, delivered an insightful address emphasizing key aspects of the POSH Act and its effective implementation.




DAV College Hoshiarpur Signs MoU for Eye Donation Awareness DAV College, Hoshiarpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rotary Eye Bank and Corneal Transplantation Society, Hoshiarpur to promote awareness about eye donation. The college Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, describing eye donation as a divine act, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to actively contribute towards educational initiatives and outreach highlighting the significance of corneal transplantation. Dr. Anoop Kumar, President of the College Managing Committee, and Secretary Sh. R.M. Bhalla also praised the efforts being made to popularize eye donation, referring to it as a noble offering. They emphasized the need for all stakeholders to participate in this sacred initiative, which can help free people from the curse of darkness and bring light into their lives.

Yajna Ceremony Marks Beginning of New Academic Session at DAV College Under the esteemed patronage of Managing Committee President Dr. Anoop Kumar and Secretary Shri R.M. Bhalla, a sacred Yajna was held at DAV College, Hoshiarpur to inaugurate the new academic session 2025–26. College Toppers of M.Sc. (IT) 4th Semester Priya secured the first position in the college by scoring 84.87% in Panjab University, Chandigarh result declared for M.Sc. 4th Semester. Deepali Sharma followed with 82.70%, claiming the second position, while Ranjana Devi stood third with 79.35%. The College Managing Committee President, Dr. Anoop Kumar, and Secretary, Sh. R.M. College Toppers of BA 6th Semester Mehak secured the first position in the college by scoring 79.5% in Panjab University, Chandigarh result declared for BA 6th Semester. Harpreet walia followed with 75.16%, claiming the second position, while Rajdeep stood third with 71.08%




DAV College, Hoshiarpur Shines Among Colleges Across Punjab (As per the survey conducted by MDRA-India Today DAV College, Hoshiarpur has once again made its mark in the list of top colleges in the country for the eighth consecutive year. Expressing immense joy over the Best Colleges Ranking -2025, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar shared that a survey was conducted by reputed magazine ‘India Today’ to assess academic institutions. The Ranking was based across diverse parameters including infrastructure, faculty, placements, research output, and results. Among institutions affiliated with Panjab University in Punjab, DAV College, Hoshiarpur stood out by securing 1st position in BCA and B.Sc. , and 2nd position in BA & B.Com. With this performance, the college also earned the distinction of being ranked first among all colleges in Hoshiarpur district. Dr. Anoop Kumar, President of the College Managing Committee, described the achievement as a moment of pride for the institution and credited the success to the dedicated efforts of both the faculty and students. He acknowledged the efforts of Mrs. Tracy Kohli, IQAC Coordinator and her team for their proactive role in compiling all data and responding to queries thereafter. Sh. R.M. Saini, who served in the Hindi Department at DAV College, Hoshiarpur, expressed his desire to award an annual scholarship to two students of the institution in memory of his late wife, Mrs. Asha Saini. In this regard, he presented a sum of ₹24,000 to Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar for the benefit of one student each from the Science and Arts streams. His son Sumit Dushyant and son-in-law Tarun Saini were also present on this occasion.

Providing details about the event, College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar announced that trials for multiple sports, like football, volleyball, judo, kho-kho, cricket, table tennis, basketball, boxing, kickboxing, water polo, diving, badminton, and swimming, will commence at 10:00 AM for the 2025-26 session. Centenary Foundation Day Celebration at D.A.V. College, Hoshiarpur Under the patronage Dr. Anoop Kumar, President, D.A.V. College Managing Committee, and Sh. R.M. Celebration of National Youth day:Under the dynamic leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kumar, Sociological Forum Society, Department of Sociology celebrated National Youth Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, with great enthusiasm.
